Pharmacy Technician Certification in Wyoming
The State of Wyoming generally splits it’s Pharmacy Technicians into two (2) categories: Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technicians-In-Training.
Qualifications:
A Pharmacy Technician or Technician-In-Training must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have no felony or gross misdemeanor convictions in the 3 years prior to applying for their license
- Have no history of drug abuse. Or, if there was abuse, provide substantial proof of rehabilitation
- Hold a high school diploma or GED
- Have completed requirements for registration (determined by the Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy)
- At all times where a name badge with Pharmacy Technician or Technician-In-Training designation
- Answer the phone as Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician-In-Training in all phone conversations while on duty in the pharmacy
- Provide evidence of current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
Please note: the Board reserves the right to interview any applicant prior to issuing a license.
To apply for a Technician-In-Training permit the applicant must apply to the Board of Pharmacy for a training permit (supplied by the Board) and pay the required fee (see below) within 10 calendar days of starting their on-the-job training. The permit, once approved, is good for two years. If you fail to pass the training during this time period the permit will NOT be renewed.
Cost:
Pharmacy Technician License: $50
Pharmacy Technician-In-Training Permit: $15
Pharmacy Technician Renewal Fee: $50/year

License Renewal:
A Pharmacy Technician must apply for renewal (on a Board-Certified Form) each year, on or before, December 31. The renewal application must also include your fee (see above). If the application is postmarked or filed past December 31 the Board may impose a late fee.
A license not renewed by March 31 will be considered expired. A Pharmacy Technician may petition the Board at this point.
At the time of this writing the CE requirements are as follows:
Each Pharmacy Technician must complete, within each calendar year, six (6) contact hours of approved, continuing pharmacy education programs.
Please Note: excess continuing education hours CANNOT be carried over to the following year. You are also required to retain CE certificates for two years from the date of reporting them for credit on a license renewal application.
The Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy also reserves the right to perform random audits of CE credits. If audited, you must provide copies of all CE credits earned for the renewal cycle.
License Transfer:
Must apply as a new Pharmacy Technician.
